Linda Lee (Thompson) Bottomley, 75, of Platteville died on Saturday, July 19, 2025. Linda was born on April 5, 1950, in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, daughter of Gladys (Wendhausen) Kienzle and Joe David Thompson. She married to Thomas Bottomley on June 12, 1971, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. They had three children, Morhia, Brett and Brad, who she loved very much. She and Tom farmed outside rural Potosi and later they farmed in Ellenboro. Linda always loved raising animals. Linda received her BS and later her master's in science of education from UW-Platteville on July 13, 1993. She went into social work where she opened her own business, helping many adults, children and families in need of services. Through her guidance she influenced many young and old in their own personal lives. Linda had a love for jewelry, antiques, dogs, especially her English Mastiffs, horses and cows. She enjoyed traveling, drawing, painting and shopping. In Linda's life her family was her biggest love and being a grandmother. Over these past years she enjoyed spending time with Cheyenne and Callie who helped her with many things in her home. Linda is survived by three children, Morhia (Tim) Wedig, Brett (Sam) Bottomley, and Brad (Rebecca) Bottomley; eleven grandchildren, Cheyenne Bottomley, Caitlin Bottomley, Callie (Jake Bartels) Quale, Christian Wedig, Asher Bottomley, Bentley Bottomley, Lincoln Thomas Bottomley, Neenah Flogel, Ryker Bottomley, Maddox Bradshaw, and Ethan Bradshaw; two great-grandchildren, Aries and Edgar; her best friend and sister, Roxanne Lyght, sister, Valerie (Stephen) Honshel; two brothers, Craig (Tina) Thompson and Tom (Karla) Thompson and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, Clarence Kienzle, brother-in-law, Bernard Lyght and nephews, Jacob Thompson and Jerid Lyght. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Burial will be at Lima Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.
