Linda Jan (Lanser) Danziger died peacefully at home away July 18, 2025 at the age of 82 in Burlington, Vermont.

She was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina May 18, 1943, and grew up in Littleton Colorado. She received a bachelors degree in art education and minor in math and a masters in art education from the University of Denver. After marriage she moved to Plainfield, Vermont and bought a house and thirty acres on East Hill Road, with her former husband Jeff Danziger. She loved Vermont. She taught art for 48 years at Twinfield Union School. For 30 years she was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma sorority for educators. In 1986 she received the outstanding teacher award from the University of Vermont college of education. She coached Destination Imagination for 30 years and won the Pat Dilego award in 2024. She was the treasurer for the Plainfield Library for many years.

Jan touched the heart and soul of everyone she met and inspired many of her students to pursue careers as artists. She enjoyed reading, painting portraits, playing cards with friends, teaching photography and drama. She loved being in the Gilbert and Sullivan plays performed at the Plainfield town hall. Jan was also a gardener, proud of her beautiful fully landscaped gardens wherever she lived. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Jan is survived by her daughter Kim Chanthany Danziger and partner Alex Shepard, sister Susan and Jerry Voluvka, sister-in-law Pam Lanser and her daughter-in-law Kiyomi Danziger. She was predeceased by son Matthew Danziger, brother Randy Lanser, and parents Vivian and Roland Lanser.

Celebration of life will be at Plainfield Town Hall on August 29, 2025 from 10am-2pm.

Jan Danziger was life-changing for me. She opened up an entire new world that I had never been exposed to. Our family moved to Plainfield when I was a junior in high school and the very first art class I ever had was with her. It was so amazing. She discovered my talent immediately. She encouraged me in every way that a gifted teacher can. I rarely ate in the cafeteria as you could find me in the little pottery room, throwing pots almost every day. She taught me color theory composition techniques for numerous art materials, and most of all she open the door to art history for me. I attended the University of Vermont and studied fine art and education. I became an art teacher all because of Jan. I taught for 35 years in public education, both art and drama in northern Michigan where I still reside with my family. I am still teaching private lessons, and exhibiting my work, and of course multiple shows a year.
I remember her as a tiny sprite of a woman, full of energy, love and creative spirit. Anything was possible in her classroom. She never said no. It was wonderful to see her smile in the obituary photo. That´s exactly how I remember it. I will always be thankful to Jan Danziger for changing my life setting me on a wonderful course of creativity that has lasted an entire lifetime. I want you to know that she made a profound difference in my life. Sorry for your loss.
Patricia Foss Tinney. Graduate of Twinfield high school 1975.
