Linda Miyako IshiiOctober 30, 1938 – May 24, 2025
Linda Miyako Ishii, 86, of Seaside, California, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Linda, the sixth of seven children, was born in Kapaa, Hawaii to parents Nobuo and Yoshi Fujitani on October 30, 1938. She graduated from Kauai Technical School. On June 25, 1966, she married the love of her life, Lloyd Ishii, with whom she shared a devoted partnership until his passing in 2019.
She retired from Civil Service after more than 30 years of service at the Naval Postgraduate School, where she worked as an education technician. Linda was a devout Catholic, and her faith guided her throughout her life. She was an avid gardener and could often be seen tending to her front yard or walking around the block. She loved cooking and was especially known for her delicious macaroni salad, a favorite at every family gathering. Linda found her greatest joy in her family. She lived for her grandsons and was a constant, loving presence in their lives.
She is survived by her sister, Amy Fujitani; daughters, Liane Yamasaki and Linae Ishii-Devine (John Devine); her grandsons, James and Michael Devine; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
She will be remembered for her kind and generous heart.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, 15 Railroad Avenue, Spreckels, CA 93962. Aloha attire welcomed.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels of the Monterey Peninsula or a charity of your choice in Linda's memory.
