Linda Lee Raines, age 81 of Old Fields, WV, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 1, 2025, at the E.A. Hawse Healthcare Center in Baker, WV. Born on August 2, 1943, in the Tannery area of Moorefield, WV, she was the beloved daughter of the late Elwood Newton Turley and Rose Anna Bowman Turley. Her sister, Patricia Gapp preceded her in death.
A card-carrying fan club member and a concert attendee, Linda loved her favorite artist, Willie Nelson. Linda’s love for reading and her fondness for the beach filled her days with warmth and wonder. Her laughter echoed through the forest as she pursued her love for deer hunting and camping, often reminiscing on days spent in a tepee surrounded by cherished friends. In years past with her husband, they attended rendezvous of “Primitive Camping”, where a tepee and buckskins were the norm.
Surviving is her loving husband of 62 years, Randall Leroy Raines; daughters, Laranda L. (Tim) Baldwin and “D.D.” (Frank) High all of Purgitsville, WV; sisters, Irene Alt of Petersburg, WV, Francis “Pudy” Leatherman of Old Fields, WV and Sue Sager of Moorefield, WV; three grandchildren and a great-grandson.
To honor her remarkable life, a funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, located at 107 Washington Street. Friends and family are warmly invited to gather from 11:00 AM until the time of service, as we unite in love and remembrance. Interment will follow in the Olivet Cemetery where her spirit will rest peacefully.
Memorials may be directed to the Hardy County Library, 100 N Main Street, Moorefield, WV 26836.
