Linda Kay Smock, age 77, of Albia, IA, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025, at the Comfort House in Pella, IA.
Linda was born in Iowa City, IA, on October 28, 1947, to William "Bill'and Carrie (Gray) Frye. She grew up attending school and graduated from Albia High School with the class of 1966. She was united in marriage to Bob Tangie and to this union, 2 children, Robert and Kristina, were born. Linda and Bob later divorced. Linda later married Winfield Smock and they later divorced.
Linda worked as a nurse's aide for many years at the Albia Manor that later became Oakwood Care Center as well as at the Albia Care Center in Albia. She later went to work at Pella Corp. until her retirement in 2004.
Linda enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together and reading. She also enjoyed collecting Kim Anderson statues and paperweights. She loved to travel with her daughter, including to Cancun and St. Lucia. She enjoyed going to the casinos and junk shops. She was an animal lover of all sorts, but especially of her dogs, Maggie and Gracie. Above all else, Linda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Linda is survived by her children, Rob Tangie and his significant other, Karla Waters, and Kris Tangie; a brother, William Wayne Frye; and 2 nephews, Colin and Casey.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Carrie Frye and a brother, Larry Frye and sister-in-law, Jeanie Frye.
Per Linda's wishes, her body has been cremated and no formal services are planned at this time.
