Linwood E. "Itchy" Thorne, 90, of Cut Off Road, Keyser, WV, died on Friday, July 25, 2025 at the Keyser Healthcare Center.

Born on April 21, 1935 in Petersburg, WV, he was a son of the late Earl and Blanche (Wolfe) Thorne. He also was preceded in death by his son, Linwood E. Thorne, Jr.; two sisters, Marie and Jean and three brothers, Emory, Vernon and David.

Mr. Thorne was a 1953 graduate of Allegany High School Cumberland, MD, served in the United States Army and was a retired truck driver. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and later in life was an avid Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiast. He also was a member of Lodge # 662, Loyal Order of Moose, Keyser.

Surviving is his companion of 35 years, Joy Fertig; a daughter, Rhonda Wilcox of North Carolina; a sister, Wanita Laskie of Ohio, a special niece, Sandy Marsh; several grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as his numerous beloved fur babies.

At Mr. Thorne's request, there will be no visitation or services.

The Smith Funeral Home and Crematory, Keyser, is in charge of the arrangements.

The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the Mineral County Humane Society, 831 Cut Off Road, Keyser. WV 26726.
