Lois Fern (Lomenick) Hackler, Duncan, was born in Cloud Chief, Oklahoma on December 12, 1930 to Lawrence and Thelma Fern (Deputy) Lomenick. She completed her earthly journey at the age of 94 on Thursday, July 3, 2025, in Oklahoma City.
A celebration of Lois' life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 12, in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Ron Motley officiating. Inurnment will be in the Sharon Cemetery near Gotebo, Oklahoma.
Lois spent her free time serving her church family at West Side Christian Church. She could be found making the homemade cookies for special events, organizing the palms for Palm Sunday, flowers for Easter, cooking for the Easter sunrise service, candles for the Christmas Eve service, serving as the chairman of the board, singing in the choir, and organizing the meal for a grieving family.
Lois, known to her family as Meme, loved serving her family as well. She loved cooking for her large family gatherings at her home – making everyone's favorite meal, homemade noodles and her famous Thanksgiving dressing. Afterwards, she would look forward to a competitive round of card games.
She could often be found working in her large vegetable garden, tending her flowers, or making beloved quilts for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Every Christmas she made homemade candy, like fudge, millionaires, and everyone's favorite – January Thaw – a treasured family recipe handed down from her mother.
Lois enjoyed being outdoors, riding horses when she was younger, and later showing up for her grandchildren's activities from sports events to stock shows. Meme never failed to let her family know she loved them and was praying for them.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Ford; and her beloved husband of 65 years, William Carroll "W.C." Hackler.
Lois is survived by her three children: daughter, Vicky and husband Eddie Smallwood of Blum, Texas, and sons, Eddie and wife Pam Hackler of Arlington, Texas, Steve and wife Renee Hackler of Norman; 11 grandchildren: Megan Gross, Spencer Smallwood, Wade Smallwood, Sloan Smallwood, Jeremy Hackler, Travis Hackler, Jessica Clowers, Steve Hackler, Blaise Hackler, Ben Hackler, Bryson Hackler; 16 great grandchildren: Brendan Gross, Campbell Gross, Hayes Smallwood, Hattie Smallwood, Ashleigh Hackler, Matthew Hackler, Lane Clowers, Evan Clowers, Christian Hackler, Jace Hackler, Evie Hackler, Pierce Hackler, Saavi Hackler, Charlotte Hackler, Darien Howard, Raven Hackler; and great great grandchild, Koa Orjalo.
