Loretta Bowden Obituary

PITTSFIELD-Loretta J. Bowden, 85, died peacefully on June 16, 2025, in Pittsfield.
She was born on January 4, 1940, in Hartland, Maine, a daughter of the late Lewis and Theda (Stanhope) Butler. She married her husband, Keith, when she was just 16 and they shared 60 years together.
Faith and family were two of the most important things in Loretta's life. She also enjoyed games on her computer, playing cards, knitting, and in her younger years, camping with family. She absolutely loved and cared for her dogs. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Pittsfield for many years.
She is survived by her son, Steven Bowden and wife Susanne; two grandchildren: Eimile and Izaak; two sisters: Anita Welch and husband Francis and Carole Robinson and husband David; her half-brother, Doug Pratt; her foster son, Mike Bennett; nieces and nephews; a special friend, Julie Mathews; and her Golden Retriever, Misty.
She was predeceased by her husband, Keith; her parents; her in-laws, Vernon and Margaret Bowden, who she adored; sister, Linda Mitchell; brother, Lewis Butler Jr; and special friend, Shirley MacDonald.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the Village Cemetery, Peltoma Ave., Pittsfield, with Pastor Ted Bragg officiating.
