Loretta Miriam Thomas was born on September 30, 1938, in Inkster, Michigan, and passed away on June 10, 2025, at the age of 86. As we gather to honor her memory, we celebrate the countless ways she enriched the lives of those around her. She was a shining example of positivity, kindness, and grace to all who knew her. Her life was dedicated to her family, and she always found the time to offer a listening ear, a warm hug and a compassionate heart. Loretta lived a life filled with love, faith, and devotion to those around her. Her faith helped her overcome life's challenges and inspired others to find strength. Her warmth and kindness touched everyone she encountered, leaving a legacy of compassion and grace that will be cherished for generations. Loretta's laughter and wisdom brightened the lives of her family, friends, and anyone fortunate enough to cross her path. Loretta found joy in holiday cooking, reading, sewing word search puzzles, collecting recipes, and baby-sitting. We know that Loretta was welcomed home by parents Robert and Kathryn Shepard, brother Robert Shepard Jr. and sister Shirley Fuquay who passed before her. Left to cherish her memories are her sisters; Gayle Kimmey and Jennifer Washington (Husband) Walter Washington, Brothers; Brian Shepard (Wife) Marth Shepard, and Sylvester Shepard. Children: Linda June Thomas, Melva Lorain Davis (husband) Jeffery Davis, Steven Gregory Thomas (Wife) Carlotta Thomas, and Randy Lee Thomas. Grandchildren: LaNita Danielle Thomas, Loretta Lynn Ransaw, Lynsie Deloris Ransaw, LaChelle Latifah Thomas, Maranda Lorain Cushman, Ronnie Jewells Cushman III, Christopher Emanuel Cushman, Steven Darnell Thomas (wife Precious Thomas), Chelsea Marie Thomas, Courtney Breanna Muhammad (Husband) Mouchettee Muhammad, Charmaine Bianca Hoey (Husband) Corree Hoey, Andria Reena Lovitt (Husband) Christopher Lovitt, Vincent David Thomas. Along with 28 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends, prayer partners, and Caregivers who loved her dearly.
