Lou Evelyn Edley
Mrs. Lou Evelyn (Rutledge) Edley departed this life on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the age of 86. She was born May 23, 1939, in Oil Trough, the daughter of Cecil and Lou (Pridmore) Rutledge.
Mrs. Edley was a graduate of Newark High School. She was a homemaker and she worked the cows with her family. Mrs. Edley loved being a 4H Leader and tending to her garden and flower beds. Her hobbies included embroidery and jigsaw puzzles. Mrs. Edley was a member of the Newark First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Abel Edley; four brothers, Cecil Houston Rutledge, Wilbur Rutledge, Leon Rutledge, and Rex Rutledge; one sister, Irene Gardner; and her parents.
Mrs. Edley is survived by one son, Robert Calvin Edley and wife, Lori; one sister, Nina Stephens of Batesville; many nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at Jackson's Newark Funeral Home, Sunday 2:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday at Charlotte Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Kendell Rutledge, Ronald Stephens, Russell Stephens, Larry Williams, Ron Bryers, and Chris Marinar. Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of Mountain Meadows Rehab Center.
