A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday June 21, 2025, at the Matthews Funeral Home in Jennings, LA for Louis Shuman, 86, who passed away on Tuesday June 10, 2025, in his home.
The family request that the visiting hours be observed on Saturday June 21, 2025, from 9:00 AM until the time of his service. Pastor Cliff LeJeune will be facilitating his services. The family has chosen to honor his wishes with cremation.
Louis was born on March 13, 1939, in Swisher County, TX to the late Walter Shuman and Cora Knight Shuman. He dedicated his career to the Oil Production Industry as a Process Chemical Engineer. Beyond his working pursuits, he found much joy in fishing, playing golf and working on corvettes. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. A cherished father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Louis is survived by his daughter, Mitzy Landry (David) of Jennings, LA; two sons, Greg Shuman (Sonya) of Mermentau, LA and Lannye Shuman of Mermentau, LA; daughter in law, Beth Shuman of Austin, TX; son, Russ Reed (Debbie) of Waco, TX; his eight grandchildren, Laken Shuman, Alaine Landry, Tresslyn Landry West, Baylee Shuman Judice, Chloee Shuman, Grace Shuman Hastings, Trevor Reed, Reagan Reed; great grandchild, Merlin Boudreaux.
He is preceded in death by his parents Walter Shuman and Cora Knight Shuman; his wife, Kay Shuman; his son, Kris Shuman; two brothers, Walt Shuman and Karl Shuman; one sister, Lois Shields.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Heart of Hospice, the nurses and staff, for their compassion given to their dad during the last few months of his life.
