Louise H. Cronin, age 99, died Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Halifax Health Hospice Care, Edgewater. Born in Amesbury, Massachusetts to Alfred and Elizabeth Sicard Huard, Louise came to the area in 1977 from Raymond, New Hampshire.
A beautician, she owned a hair salon at 20 years old in Amesbury, Massachusetts. Louise grew up on a farm in Amesbury, and was a majorette at Amesbury High School where she led the football team out on the field and was the North Shore of Boston 1942 baton twirling champion. She was the Chairman of school board in New Hampshire too. Louise married Dennis Cronin Sr. in 1947, had 4 children in 4 years and raised her family in New Hampshire. She was a Girl Scout leader during the 1960's, and remained active with the Girl Scouts, serving on the Girl Scout Council even after her daughters were beyond their Girl Scout years. She loved the Florida lifestyle, boating, shrimping, swimming and swam every day until she was 95 years old. Louise was a realtor for 20 years, from the age of 60 to 80 years old.
Survivors include her 4 children, Susan (Vance Bryan) Eagan, Sharon Colgan, Dennis (Patricia) Cronin Jr., and Sally (John) Reifsnyder; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Louise was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Dennis Sr.; 2 sisters, Mary Elizabeth Goss and Irene Duclos.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home with Mr. Dennis Cronin Jr., officiating. Entombment will follow at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials c/o Dennis Cronin for Ex-P.O.W.), 6 Harris Circle, Edgewater, FL 32141.
