Lucia Salas Obituary

A Rosary will be held for Lucia Salas, 83, of Cache, OK at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, August 11, 2025 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home with Deacon Bob Quinett, of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church officiating. There will also be a viewing and visitation for family and friends before and after the Rosary from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Salas passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025 at her home.

Lucia was born on February 2, 1942 on Alamagan Island in the Northern Mariana Islands to Joaquin and Maria (Rios) Matagolai. She grew up on the island and as the second child of eleven, she helped take care of her brothers and sisters. Lucia married Jose Salas on May 6, 1960 in Saipan and to this union two daughters were added. Mrs. Salas moved to Tacoma, Washington in the early 1990s and later made Cache, Oklahoma her home to be near family. Lucia enjoyed bowling, fishing, farming, and singing and playing the ukelele. She was a devoted member at Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Saipan. Mrs. Salas was a special woman who was kind hearted and funny who would share anything that she had.

Mrs. Salas is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Maria Linda and Jose Roberto and Catherine S. and Silvino E. Taisacan; her brothers, Jesus Sablan and Fransisco Matagolai; her sisters, Rita Benavente, Maria Arriola, and Danita Matagolai; her grandchildren, Jolyn R. Colon, Stephanie R. and Christopher Cruz, Jaret and Brittany Roberto, Shaun Roberto, Robert and Katrina Salas, Silvino Taisacan Jr., Christopher and Linda Taisacan, Cathlin and Anthony Dale, Christine and Jayviri Aquon, Maria Taisacan and her fiance, Keoni Babauta; her great grandchildren, Dominic, Aniyah, Camilla, Michael, Nathan, Elias, Evangeline, Ayden, Emma, Delilah, Kaia, Joey, Zac, Anthony Jr., Enzo, Elaine, and Chris Jr.; and many other loving family members.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Margarit, Elena, Donald, Alex, and Vicente.
