Obituary of Lucie D. Guenzel
Lucie Doris Guenzel passed away on June 26, 2025.
Many people knew her as Doris, she was born November 9, 1939 in Germany to the late Eva Rocker and Karl Brandmeyer. She came to America as a young woman and met her late husband Hans J. Guenzel. She worked in a bridal shop as a seamstress, Hamiton Jewelers in multiple roles, and the Homasote Company where she retired after many years as the Traffic Manger.
She was a gifted seamstress, loved to needle point, and Crochet. She spent many years as a volunteer at Antheil Elementary school teaching students the craft. She enjoyed traveling across the county but Lancaster and New Hampshire were her go to spots. Her favorite activity was watching her grandkids from the sidelines of baseball, softball, track fields, or at any of the local area hockey rinks, cheering on many teams from youth to high school. She also enjoyed her Bingo Fridays with her friends. She loved to bake with her granddaughter Krista.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hans J. Guenzel, her sister Inge Herr, brother Karlheinz Brandmeyer and sister Ruth Rector and her husband Malcom. Doris is survived by her son Hans H. Guenzel and his wife Andrea. Her beloved grandchildren Hunter and Krista. Her sister Heide Bergstraesser and Christian Kwiatkowski, brother Otmar Brandmeyer and wife Lenin, and many nieces and nephews who she cherished.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 11:00AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
Interment will be held at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing Twp., NJ.
The visitation for Doris will be held on Wednesday morning from 10-11AM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Prospect Heights Fire Company, 1660 Ninth Street, Ewing NJ 08638.
