Lula Marcusson Obituary

Lula Evelyn (Leonard) Marcusson, 78, of Salisbury, MO, died Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at the home of her daughter, Tina (Dave) Atkinson, where she resided for the past 7 years. Lula was born September 3, 1946 in Boonville, MO, the daughter of Rufus and Gertrude (Speichinger) Leonard.

A graduate of St. Joseph High School, Class of 1965, Lula went on to build a successful career as an American Family Insurance agent for over twenty years. She was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salisbury, where all four of her daughters attended St. Joseph School.

Lula had a deep appreciation for nature and classic movies. She loved living at Lake Nehai, where she spent time fishing and boating on her pontoon. Lula had a fondness for orange poppies and a lifelong admiration for horses. She also loved traveling to Texas and found her greatest joy in the company of her grandchildren.

Lula was married to the late Dale Nanneman and to this union four daughters were born: Annette, Diana, Tina and Erica.

Lula is survived by her daughters, Annette (Jerry) Widmer of Olathe, KS; Diana Nanneman of Liberty, MO; Tina (Dave) Atkinson of Salisbury, MO; and Erica (Eric) Iman of Lawrence, KS. She is also survived by her brother, Charles (Willis) Leonard of Keytesville, MO; her sister, Helen Leonard of Warrensburg, MO; eleven grandchildren, Joel (Lindsey) Widmer, Kelci (Jesse) Coatney, Nathan (Lauren) Widmer, Luke (Kristen) Widmer, Eric Mathews, Lauren (Chris) Tervort, Isaac Mathews, John (Gretchen) Atkinson, Cate Atkinson, William Atkinson, and Ona Iman; and eight great-grandchildren, Grace, Emma, Samuel, Henry, Wyatt, Rowan, Beau, and Bryce.

She is also survived by her nieces, Beverly Atkinson and Natalie Sadler; and her nephews, Chuck Leonard and Nick Pinkston.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Larry Marcusson, and her nephew, Paul Leonard.

Visitation is Saturday, July 26, 2025 from 10-11:00 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salisbury, MO, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Larry's Warrior Foundation.
