Luz Benavides Obituary

Luz Aurora Benavides, affectionately known as "Lucy," returned to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, August 2, 2025. She passed away at the age of 76 at Holy Cross Hospital in South Jordan, Utah. Born in Managua, Nicaragua, on September 3, 1948. She was a Spanish translator for the courts. She later became a gaming localization project manager. In game production, she pushed for localization to be embedded at the very beginning-not just as translation, but as adaptation. Humor, pacing, gameplay mechanics, even reward systems-these had to be reworked to feel native to players around the world. Lucy loved to share the gospel on YouTube and a metaverse platform. She would find furniture and needed items to furnish bare apartments for recent immigrants, refugees, and the newly divorced. Lucy is survived by her children, JenJen Francis, Sharon Lee Francis-Smith, and James Russell Francis and wife Giselle Martinez; and, her eight grandchildren: Phoenix Sapphire Francis, age 28; Kira Wendy Smith, age 26; Cecilia Raphel Smith, age 24; Isaac Gary Daniel Smith, age 21; Ayden Christopher Sanchez, age 15; Julian James Smith, age 8; and Aivery Elle Francis, age 4.
