Lyman "Bing" Postel, 91, died Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the Anamosa Care Center
Private family services will be held 10:00 Thursday morning, July 31, 2025 at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa with interment in the Riverside Cemetery with Military Honors.
Bing is survived by his wife Dorothy, a sister-in-law, Mary Postel, and nieces and nephews, Mike (Nancy) Shaffer, Barb (Cheyene) Lerch, Doug (LuAnne) Postel, Sue (Rich) Crump, Norma (Bob) Mauer, Debra (Steve) Hendrickson. He was preceded by his parents and siblings, Lois, George, Russell and Curtis.
In his youth Bing was privileged to work for several area farmers in the Viola area. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. After his return from the Navy, he worked for several different businesses and then worked for McNamara Plumbing for many years before starting his own business Postel Plumbing and Heating. That was his primary career. Bing married Dorothy Ulferts on April 14, 1957, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Anamosa.
Bing was a private person; he never wanted to make waves. The most enjoyable time of his life was tending to the acreage on the Ridge Road along with Dorothy and their beloved pets by their side. He loved to watch the wild animals and the birds in the air. It was their own "Little Bit of Heaven"
Dorothy would like to thank Loren and Amy Lacy and Greg and Charlotte Lange, and Dorothy's niece Becky, who helped Bing and Dorothy through the Hospice Process, and many thanks to the Woodland Park, the Anamosa Care Center, St. Luke's Hospital, Unity Point Hospice, Jones Regional Medical Center, and the Anamosa Ambulance Service.
