Lynn Ray Coonrod was born October 7, 1950 at Belleville, Kansas to Dean and Helen (Woodside) Coonrod and he died August 7, 2025 at the Winner Regional Health Care Center in Winner, South Dakota at the age of 74 years.

Lynn grew up on a farm near Narka, Kansas, where he started his school and later graduated from Munden High School. After graduating he attended and graduated from Kansas State. He then moved to Sisseton, South Dakota. It was here he met the love of his life, Elaine Carlson, they were married July 24, 1975 and to this union two sons were born: Donavan and Daniel. After getting a job with the Department of Labor, a few promotions and moves, his home became Winner, South Dakota.

Together they raised their sons with the love of hunting and the great outdoors. He had more fun watching his boys on the hunt than he did himself. After the boys left home he acquired a new hobby of fishing with his wife, friends, as well as goose hunting with his dog Bailey. Later Lynn and Elaine traveled to see their family, and even though Lynn loved to travel he always said "It's good to go on vacation, but always better to come home". Elaine always wanted to go on a cruise and Lynn finally caved and had a great time on their Alaskan Cruise. Lynn and Elaine always joked that they were married 50 years, 37-39 were happy!!! He often said "When I grow up I want to be retired", which finally happened August 31, 2012.

In his time, Lynn was active and coached Little League Baseball, was a member of Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, Elks Club, Exchange Club, Chamber of Commerce, and also played Old Timers Softball for a few years.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Helen; his brother, Ivan Coonrod; his father-in-law Clifford Carlson; his mother-in-law Lillian Carlson, nephew Trevor Carlson, niece Kimberly Carlson and his beloved dog, Bailey.

Lynn is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elaine; his two sons: Donavan (Kimberly) of Sturgis, SD; Daniel (Annette) of Lynnwood, WA; 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and expecting one more; his brother Tim (Annette) of Belleville, KS; sister-in-law, Elaine Coonrod of Belleville, KS; brothers-in-law: Dale Carlson of Phoenix, AZ; Lyle Carlson (Colette) of Webster, SD; Michael (Michelle) Carlson of Sioux Falls, SD; sisters-in-law: Karen (Chet) Johnson of Sartell, MN; Cheryl Reyelts of Aberdeen, SD; and Pam (Jeff) Wohlers of Warren, MN and several nieces, nephews and friends.
