Lynne B. Allen, 79, of Fernandina Beach, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025. Born in Old Tappan, New Jersey, Lynne lived an adventurous life defined by creativity, curiosity, and connection.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Denver in 1967, Lynne married her beloved husband Kenneth Allen on August 27th of that same year. Together, they embarked on a lifetime of adventure, living in numerous places across the United States and abroad.
Lynne earned her Master of Library Science from Catholic University in the early 1980s and found great fulfillment in her work as a librarian at Prince William library in Virginia.
With an insatiable curiosity about world cultures and religions, Lynne embraced the opportunity to live in Abu Dhabi for nearly a decade. During this time, she and Kenneth traveled extensively throughout the Middle and Far East, with Hong Kong holding a special place in her heart. In 2017, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a memorable trip to Ireland.
In 2006, Lynne and Kenneth settled in the Fernandina Beach area, where she became a cherished member of the community. A familiar figure in her neighborhood, Lynne could be found walking several miles almost daily. She treasured her beach walks, collecting shells along the shore, and frequenting the downtown library and bookstore where she would search for unique gifts for her daughters and grandson.
For over 15 years, Lynne was dedicated to her yoga practice with instructor Dotty Collins, forming deep bonds with a small group of fellow yogis who followed their teacher through various studios over the years.
Lynne expressed her artistic talents through quilting, pouring her love and creativity into each piece she crafted. She was always working on a quilt for someone special in her life, creating lasting heirlooms to be treasured for generations. She was also a storyteller and photographer, creating detailed photo albums for her girls when they were young.
Lynne was born to Frederick and Francis Bremer. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Kenneth Allen; her daughters, Aimee Allen and Jennifer Allen (married to Jeffrey SooHoo); and her cherished grandson, Nicholas SooHoo. She was preceded in death by her sister, Janis Bremer and both parents.
Lynne will be remembered for her artistic spirit, her love of learning and sharing knowledge, and her dedication to family and community. Her warmth and gentle presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
