Mae Bell “Mazie” Fowler, age 97, of Paint Rock, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 12, 2025. She was born on September 27, 1927, to Robin Samuel Pierce and Nellie Elizabeth Hudson in Richland Springs, Texas.
Mazie dedicated over six decades of her life to the banking industry, serving with warmth and grace as both a teller and greeter at First State Bank in Paint Rock and First National Bank in Ballinger. Known for her welcoming smile and kind heart, she brought a personal touch to everyone she met.
A woman of deep faith, compassion, and remarkable independence, Mazie was cherished by all who knew her. She was a wonderful cook, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a source of strength and comfort to her family and friends. Her greatest joy came from time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
On June 29, 1947, Mazie married the love of her life, Robert William Fowler, in Ballinger, Texas. Their love was a true testament to lifelong companionship.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Robert Fowler; her beloved son, Rob W. Fowler; her parents, Robin and Nellie Pierce; her brother, Walter Pierce; and her sister, Elsie (Pierce) Thomas.
Mazie is survived by her son, Gary Fowler; granddaughters, Nellie Fowler Parrish and husband Mark Parrish, and Julie Fowler Woodard and husband Brian; and six cherished great-grandchildren: Hunter, William, Colton, Luke, Michaela Parrish, and Kennedy Woodard.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the chapel at Lange Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., at Lange Funeral Home, interment will follow at Paint Rock Cemetery. A post-graveside gathering will be held at the Paint Rock Community Center, where food and refreshments will be served to those gathered to celebrate Mazie's life.
Pallbearers will be Chad Thomas, David King, Raymond King, Cody King, Devin King, Devin Knapp, Hunter Parrish, and William Parrish.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of San Angelo or the Paint Rock Cemetery Association in Mazie’s honor or another charity of your choice.
The family wishes to thank all of the incredible staff of Shannon Encompass West, Hospice of San Angelo West, and Ballinger Healthcare and Rehabilitation for their tender love and care of Mazie. A very special thank you to Dr. Hitchcock of Hospice of San Angelo, as well as the caring staff of Lange Funeral Home.
