In Loving Memory of Marcia MacCallum
Marcia Wylie MacCallum, 92, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, in Ashburn, Virginia. Born on December 23, 1932, in Quincy, Massachusetts, she was the cherished only child of Edgar and Doris (Zappey) Wylie.
Marcia spent her early years in Wollaston, MA, where she graduated from Thayer Academy. She continued her education at Wheaton College and later graduated from Fisher Junior College in 1954 as a medical secretary. Shortly after completing her studies, Marcia married Richard W. MacCallum, whom she had known since childhood. Together, they raised three daughters in Marshfield, MA, before relocating to Seabrook, TX. As a devoted mother, Marcia volunteered for countless school activities and community organizations. She became heavily involved in their Episcopal church, contributing to the Altar Guild, ushering, and assisting with other church committees.
In 1985, Marcia and Richard moved to Stratham, NH. With her children grown, Marcia pursued her love of books and found a fulfilling role as a part-time librarian at the Wiggin Memorial Library, where she worked for the next 35 years. A strong advocate for the military, Marcia was an active member of the Pease Greeters, a volunteer group that welcomes troops traveling to and from conflict zones. She was immensely proud of her husband's service during World War II and held great respect for all who served in the U.S. military.
After Richard's passing, Marcia moved to Kingwood, TX, to be closer to family. Over the last four years, she brought her warm, caring, and vibrant spirit to her senior living community, where she formed deep and meaningful friendships. Marcia was loved by so many, and while she will be greatly missed, we take comfort knowing she is now reunited with Richard in heaven, together again after seven years.
Marcia's kindness and dedication touched many lives. Whether through her work, friendships, community service or compassionate listening, she left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Marcia is survived by her three daughters: Elizabeth MacCallum Stillion, Susan MacCallum Parnell, and Nancy MacCallum Doehring; her seven grandchildren: Sean Stillion, Kaitlin Stillion, Allie Houston, Je'Anna Parnell, Caleb Doehring, Brett Doehring, and Arleigh Doehring; and her four great-grandchildren: Raelyn Houston, Addison Houston, Samuel Houston, and Jackson Houston.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 64 years, Richard W. MacCallum, her infant son Mark MacCallum, and her parents Edgar and Doris Wylie.
A memorial service to celebrate Marcia's life will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Christ Church, 43 Pine St. Exeter, NH. A graveside service will follow on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH, where she will rest for eternity beside her husband Richard.
Throughout her life, Marcia loved wearing bright colors. In her memory, we kindly ask that all attendees wear bright colors to the services as we honor her spirit and legacy.
