Margaret Blinn Obituary

MARGARET ANN BLINN Margaret (Marge) Ann Blinn of Grand Ledge, formerly of Detroit and Glennie, Michigan passed away on April 12, 2025. She was born on April 16, 1930, in Detroit, Michigan, the only daughter of Stanley and Anna (Wotta) Wojciechowski. Marge was raised in hard times during the Great Depression. She watched a lot of history in her lifetime. From Pearl Harbor to September 11. She survived the pandemic. She watched her four older brothers, Stanley, Edwin, Richard, and Eugene Wojciechowski proudly serve during World War II and watched them come home. She married a young Detroit policeman, Ray Allen Blinn, Jr. in Detroit on May 16, 1953. They were married for 65 years before his passing in 2018. Together Marge and Ray raised three children in Detroit. She lived through the Detroit Riots in 1967 literally guarding the family home while Ray was on duty. Upon retirement, Marge and Ray moved to an old farmhouse in Glennie, Michigan, and lived the country life for over 40 years. Marge loved to read and tells how she walked miles to the city library as a young girl. She read all of her life and made sure her girls read too. She was instrumental in rebuilding the Curtis Township Library in Glennie. She loved to dance. She danced with her brothers in dance halls and later with Ray for years. She was our "Dancing Queen". If you had to use three words to describe her, think of Survivor, Sassy, and sometimes Stubborn. Marge is survived by her three daughters: Sheila (John) Meier, Beth (David) Howell and Pamela (Joseph) Begovich; grandchildren Caitlin Bonner, Daniel (Meg) Gardon, Jennie (Raiz) Meier, Paul (Sarah) Meier, Michael Begovich, Rachel Begovich, Michael (Pao) Howell and Spencer (Sarah)Howell; and 3 great-grandchildren Amelia, Liam and Ela. She had a special place in her heart for a young friend Mo. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray, her parents, her in-laws Ray and Susan Blinn, and her 4 brothers and their wives. She was the last of this generation. Funeral services will be held on April 21, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. Michael Church 345 Edwards St., Grand Ledge, MI 48837 with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will be at the Glennie Cemetery later this summer. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society in loving memory of Margaret Blinn.
