Margaret Bourgeois Obituary

Margaret "Peggy" Bourgeois, a lifelong resident of Metairie, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025, at the age of 78.
Peggy was the beloved wife of the late O'Neil Bourgeois Jr., with whom she shared nearly 50 years of marriage. She was the cherished daughter of the late Nell Snee Moragas and Joseph Moragas Jr. She was also preceded in death by her infant son, O'Neil Jean Bourgeois III, and her brother, Joseph Moragas III.
She is survived by her daughter Melissa Mashaw, and her son Timothy Bourgeois and his wife Cammie Bourgeois. Peggy was a proud and loving grandmother to Ian Smith, Katie Smith, Ilana Marrero, Gage Bourgeois, Kole Bourgeois, and Henry Bourgeois. Her joy continued through her great-grandchildren: Roman Marrero, Margaret Girault, and Kohen Bourgeois. She also leaves behind EsJay Canchola, who was lovingly welcomed into the family through her grandson Ian.
She is also survived by her dear sister Christine Herry and her husband Paul Herry; her nephew Phil Sondes; and her nieces Crissie Schillage, Janel Zinna, Pam Robbins, and Peggy Bearb.
Peggy will be remembered for her quiet strength, kind spirit, deep devotion to her family, and unwavering love that touched everyone around her. Her legacy lives on through the lives of those she loved so well.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Benilde Catholic Church, 1901 Division St, Metairie, LA 70001.
Peggy will be laid to rest at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Dr, Metairie, LA 70001.
