Our beloved mother and nana, Margaret Ann Carter, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025, at the age of 79, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on April 27, 1946, in East St. Louis, Ill., she was the daughter of Robert and Marie Carter. Margie dedicated her career to public service, working as a telephone operator and administrative assistant for the federal government. Outside of her professional life, she found joy in reading, shopping, and cherished lunch dates. Above all, she treasured spending quality time with her family and close friends. She was the heart of our family. Her love was unconditional, her wisdom boundless, and her presence a constant source of comfort. She had a remarkable ability to make each grandchild and great-grandchild feel uniquely special and loved. Beyond her role as a mother and nana, Margie was a woman of strength, grace, and kindness. She enjoyed being an active member of the community and belonged to many ladies' clubs, where she spent quality time with her friends, helping to make a positive impact. Her presence was known anywhere she was, with her beauty, warmth, and compassion for others. She always left a lasting impression on those she encountered. Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Marie Carter, and her fiancé, David Zacharski. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Jerry) Miller and Shari Maples; granddaughters, Ashley (Kyle) Harris and Brittnee Traylor; great-grandchildren, Greyson and Everly Harris, and Brionna and Gregory; as well as many dear friends who will carry her memory. A celebration of her life will be held 1 – 4 p.m., Saturday, May 31, 2025 at VFW Post 805, 223 W. First St., O'Fallon, Ill. Guests will be invited to share memories beginning at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network).org) in her honor. Share a memory online at www.wfh-ofallon.com. Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O'Fallon, has been entrusted with arrangements. Margaret Ann Carter's legacy of love and devotion will continue to inspire us. Rest in peace, dear Mom and Nana.
