Margaret Good Obituary

Margaret Joyce Good of Leesburg, Virginia passed away peacefully Thursday, February 27, 2025. Born October 8, 1929, in Clay Township, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Clark and Jane Pfiefer.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Capt. Ronald Phillip Good, USN (Ret) also of Leesburg. She is survived by her three children, Robin (Mac) Jackson, Janell (Michael) Hoffman, and Jeffrey Good as well as five grandchildren, Anneliese Jackson, Patrick Jackson, Alexandra Jackson, Cassandra Good, and Matthew Good.

Margaret earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music in 1951 from Iowa State Teachers College, now the University of Northern Iowa. It was there that she met her beloved husband Ronald Good, whom she married in 1952. During her college career, she was a member of the Ainsworth Music Concert Band, College Chorus, Symphony Orchestra, Sigma Alpha Iota, and the Wesley Foundation. Her love for music and her church community continued beyond college as she began teaching music and was an avid member of Leesburg United Methodist Church, where she served faithfully and maintained a longstanding membership dating back to the early 1980s.

In addition to being a loving mother and grandmother, she spent decades volunteering her time and touching the lives of many in the equestrian community. Her tender love and her passion for service were evident in her role as the District Commissioner of the Loudoun Hunt Pony Club from 1982 to 2021. She was also the founding and long-time organizer of the Loudoun Hunt Pony Club Horse Trials held each spring at Morven Park and fall at Oatlands. Margaret's service to the equestrian community began in 1975 when her daughter and son joined Loudoun Hunt Pony Club, and it continued for decades with her grandchildren joining in the early 2000's.

Margaret received multiple awards for her dedication to developing young equestrians and to the betterment of the sport of Eventing. Among these were the Legend Award in 2004, the Founders Award in 2006 from the United States Pony Club, and The Wofford Cup in 2007 from the United States Eventing Association. Her enduring legacy in the equestrian world is commemorated through a plaque honoring her at the equestrian jogging track at Morven Park Equestrian Center and the Margaret Good Legacy Award, established by the Loudoun Hunt Pony Club in her memory.

A funeral service will be Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 11:00 am at Leesburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Seungsoo 'RJ' Jun presiding. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Loudoun Hunt Pony Club or Blue Ridge Hospice. Margaret Joyce Good
