Margaret Sue Hughes, 82, of Nowata, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025. Born on April 10, 1943, in Claremore to William and Elva Lunsford, Margaret lived a life rich in love, family, and simple joys.
A proud graduate of Nowata High School, Margaret devoted her life to being a homemaker, raising her children with deep care, unwavering support, and a strong sense of family. Her home was always full-of laughter, love, blooming flower beds, and thriving house plants that reflected her nurturing spirit.
Margaret found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid quilter, known for her intricate designs and the warmth her creations brought to family and friends. She rarely missed a game of bingo, and she cherished any opportunity to go out to eat-enjoying both the meal and the company. Above all, Margaret's greatest joy was her family, whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally.
She is survived by her loving children: Terri Hamil (Ed), Bo Hughes (Sandy), Roger Hughes (Bettie), and Danny Hughes (Heather); 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her brothers Eldon Lunsford, Bill Lunsford, and Cotton Lunsford; and a host of nieces and nephews who adored her.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elva Lunsford; her beloved husband, Wayne Herrell Hughes; her brothers Melvin Lunsford and Buster Lunsford; and her sister, Ruth Sherrill.
Her legacy of kindness, devotion, and warmth will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
