Margaret Mary McBrady was born on February 13, 1953, in Graceville, Minnesota the eldest of eight children to Joseph and Mary (Siefert) McBrady. She moved with her family as a teenager to Maple Lake, where she would later solidify her roots and create a legacy filled with love, kindness, and care.
A proud graduate of Maple Lake High School in 1971, Peg continued her education in Rochester for nursing and earned her bachelor's degree from Metropolitan State University, a degree that would define her career. She began her journey as a nurse with dedication and grace, serving in multiple hospitals over a rewarding 30-year span. Her passion for helping others led her to work as a home healthcare nurse and, most recently, as a guardian and caseworker for vulnerable adults.
Peg's nurturing spirit extended beyond her professional life. A devoted mother, she raised her four children, with resilience as a proud, strong mom. She married the love of her life, Willis Plaggerman, on October 24, 1986, at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake.
Faith was central in Peg's Life. She was an active member of the Church of St. Timothy, where she taught faith formation, participated in Alpha and the Catholic Council of Women.
Peg's heart for service was evident in her countless volunteer efforts. She made a lasting impact on many lives through her work with Medica, Action for Children-Zambia, board member of Love INC, and as a dedicated Girl Scout leader for three decades. Even in her busy schedule, she found joy in hiking and camping in her younger years; and in later life, traveling, knitting, baking, and reading-every moment a reflection of her vibrant spirit. Above all, Peg cherished the time spent with all her family, especially her grandchildren.
Peg is survived by her husband of 38 years, Willis of Maple Lake; her children, Joe (Karen) Spiegel of McCammon, ID, Laura Carlson of Pocatello, ID, Beth (Dusty) Nicka of South Haven, and Lynn (Sam) Muller of Waverly; six grandchildren, Zoe and Maya Spiegel, Milo Nicka, and Theo, Finnegan, and Silas Muller; siblings, Barbara (Gene) McBrady-Janikula of Watertown, Betty (Greg) Thomes of Maple Lake, Jerry (Karla) McBrady of Maple Lake, Carol McBrady of Lusaka, Zambia, Pat (Theresa) McBrady of Park Rapids, and Mary Pat Craite of Maple Lake; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Darren "DJ" Carlson; brother, Daniel McBrady; and brother-in-law, Clyde Craite.
Aaron Thomes, Betty Thomes, Barb McBrady-Janikula, Mary Pat Craite, and Jerry McBrady will serve as urn bearers. Krista Elsenpeter and Shannon Paumen will provide music for the service. In memory of Peg, donations may be made to Love INC or Action for Children, Zambia. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
