Margie Craine Townsend, 97, wife of the late J.R. Townsend, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2025, at NHC in Laurens.
Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Mae Johnson Craine. Retired from the textile industry, she worked at Laurens and Watts Mill. A faithful member of Welcome Baptist Church, she was a Sunday School teacher, prayer chain coordinator, choir member, and served on the bereavement committee. Her faith and dedication to her church were evident in all she did, and she touched the lives of many through her service and compassion.
She is survived by her son, Tony Wade Weathers (Marlene); grandchildren, Jennifer Gregory (Chad), Tracy McNuer (Brian), and Sean Burns; great grandchildren, Elaina "Nikki" Weathers, Tony Keith "T.K." Weathers, Summer Patterson (Alan), Ashton Burns (Blake), Sloan Gregory, and Austin McNuer; great-great grandchildren, Colton Patterson and Max Burns.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Evelyn Weathers; sisters, Ann Kirk and Sarah Montgomery; and a grandson, Nicky Weathers.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 21, 2025, in Welcome Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Don Peake at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Welcome Baptist Church, 1825 Highway 14, Laurens, SC 29360.
