It is with heavy hearts that the family of Maria del Carmen Garcia announces her peaceful passing on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Briarcliff Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in McAllen, TX. Born on October 8, 1942, in Abilene, TX, to the late Juan Rodriguez and Matilde Martinez, Maria led a life defined by immense love, devotion, and kindness.
A beloved wife, she cherished her late husband, Manuel Ricardo Garcia Sr., beyond measure. One of their greatest joys was dancing together, creating treasured memories that would last a lifetime. Maria was also a wonderfully loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, always putting her family's needs above all else. Whether she was hosting a lively barbeque or simply having everyone over for a visit, Maria found pure happiness in being surrounded by the people she loved most.
Whenever her children came to see her, she delighted in cooking each one their favorite dish, filling her home with warmth, delicious aromas, and heartfelt laughter. Maria's compassion extended well beyond her own family. For over 40 years, she passionately served others as an LVN Nurse, dedicating her career to caring for those in need. A woman of deep faith, Maria found strength and guidance in her beliefs, which shaped her loving and selfless nature. In her spare time, she enjoyed listening to music, was an avid reader, and loved to travel. When she could, she would go to South Padre Island, finding peace by the ocean with her loving family for shared moments of joy. She also found entertainment and excitement in playing poker and gambling, savoring every moment of life's little thrills.
Maria was preceded in death by her loving husband, Manuel Ricardo Garcia Sr., and by numerous siblings. She is survived by her seven children, Manuel Ricardo (Leonora) Garcia Jr., Elizabeth Ann Alvarez, Maricela (Eric) Oliver, Sandra (Kenneth) Ruth, Fernando Xavier (Mirna) Garcia, Armando (Angel) Rodriguez, and Veronica Garcia; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her two sisters, Ernestina Green and Alicia Salazar; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Flores Funeral Home in Mission, TX. Cremation will take place at a later date. In this time of profound loss, the family extends their deepest gratitude to Flores Funeral Home of Mission for their compassionate care.
Maria del Carmen will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family, her loving spirit, and her passion for life. Her legacy of devotion, warmth, and generosity will forever guide those who were fortunate enough to know her. May her soul rest in eternal peace, reunited at last with her beloved husband and dancing joyfully among the angels.
