Maria De Jesus "Chita" Yañez, age 79, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 while surrounded by family at the Baptist Medical Center, located in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on February 18, 1946 in Zaragoza, Coahuila, Mexico.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Enriqueta and Lucas De La Paz; son, Armando Yañez; and brothers: Heriberto De La Paz, Dolores De La Paz, Juan De La Paz, Marcelino De La Paz, and Francisco De La Paz;
Family members left to cherish her memory include her husband of 59 years (today), Gilberto Yañez of Del Rio; children: Gilberto Yañez Jr. and wife Lynn Yañez of Del Rio, Isabel Cristina Peña and husband Homero Peña of Del Rio, Raymundo Yañez and wife Victoria "Vicky" Yañez of Big Spring, TX, Raul Yañez of Del Rio, Narce Ponce and husband Domiro Ponce of Del Rio, Marcelino Yañez and wife Stacey Yañez of Alpine, TX, and Gerardo Yañez and wife Michele Yañez of Corpus Christi, TX; sisters, Rosa Elia Flores and husband Armando Flores of Brighton, CO, and Ernestina Vasquez and husband Moises Vasquez of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren: Matthew, Homero III, Gilbert, Alan, Damaris, Armando Jr., Vanessa, Priscilla, Marissa, Isaac, Razyl, Rylee, Raul Jr., Aric, Ava, Alek, David, Adam, Marcelino Jr., Marcus, Anahi, and Valeria; Maria is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other close relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Trinity Chapel of Faith.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 10 a.m at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Raymundo Yañez, Gilbert Yañez, Marcelino Yañez, Gerardo Yañez, Raul Yañez, Armando Yañez Jr.
