Marie Caroline, 98,
Minot, ND, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2025, at St. Vincent's Nursing Home in Bismarck, ND.
Marie was born in Kenmare on August 5, 1926, to Dorothy and Vaughn Weinberger. She attended school in Kenmare, graduating from St. Agnes School. Marie always enjoyed music, playing saxophone and piano in her early years. In her later years, she made sure to catch the weekly broadcast reruns of the Lawrence Welk Show.
She attended NDSU and received a teaching certificate, going on to teach in Donnybrook until her marriage in 1950. Marie married Dr. Henry Kramer in Kenmare, and they lived in Topeka, Kansas while Dr. Kramer served in the Air Force, returning to North Dakota to live in Enderlin, and finally, Minot.
They were blessed with three children, Katherine, Michael, and Thomas. Marie and her family were active in Little Flower Church and Bishop Ryan High School. One of the fundraising projects she participated in was collecting S&H Green stamps, enough to purchase a school bus for the school! She enjoyed baking, reading, crafting, and sewing and was skilled in oil and acrylic painting, particularly nature scenes. Dr. Kramer passed away suddenly in 1974. A family cabin completed after his death continued to be a beloved gathering space for family throughout Marie's life.
In 1976, Marie married LuVerne Caroline and they continued to live in Minot until his death in 2022. They spent many peaceful days together at the lake cabin enjoying nature, listening to the birds, and watching activity on the lake. When her son, Mike, took Marie salmon fishing for the first time and she caught one, she was hooked and enjoyed several more salmon excursions.
Together Marie and LuVerne enjoyed traveling to see their children and families, and took numerous trips including to Rome, Medjugorje, Fatima, Mexico, and Hawaii. They also enjoyed wintering in Florida for several years.
Marie was happiest spending time with loved ones, cooking or baking and doing crafts with grandchildren, watching the kids play at the lake cabin, or cheering on the anglers (and always hoping for a fresh walleye dinner!). She is warmly remembered as a "fancy" great-grandmother, as she kept her hair styled and nails painted pink.
Blessed be her memory, she will be greatly missed.
Marie is survived by her children, Katherine (Richard) Anderson, Michael (Kari) Kramer, and Thomas Kramer; stepdaughters, Linda (Frank) Boehm and Kimberly (Glenn) Kehrer; ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents: husbands, Dr. Henry Kramer and LuVerne Caroline; granddaughter, Heather Chlebik; stepson, Ronald Caroline; and stepdaughter, Shelly Caroline.
