Marie Colehour Obituary
Marie Emily Colehour, loving mother, grandmother and dear friend to many passed away on August14, 2025 at Amberwood Care Center at the age of 79.
Marie was born in Rockford Illinois on January 27th, 1946, to Raymond H. and Lydia W. (Rathke) Vestal. She graduated from Auburn High Schol in 1964 and married her childhood sweetheart Morey Colehour in Kalamazoo, Michigan on July 21st, 1966. They had 3 girls together. Morey preceded her in death at the age of 29.
Marie was a "huge" Chicago Bears, Bulls and Cubs fan her entire life and was able to live to see each team win their collective titles. She passed this love of Chicago sports on to all three of her daughters as well. Her love for Elvis was just as big. She collected every single one of his albums and even joined a fan club for a local Elvis impersonator. Marie loved music in general whether it was her local favorites Cheap Trick or Barry Mannilo to The Carpenters. She also felt it important that each of her daughters play a musical instrument in school which they all did. Her youngest daughter still plays the violin.
Nothing could beat the love that she had for her grand/great grandchildren though. She cherished each and every one of them and was there at every event that she could possibly be at! They were her pride and joy and really what she reflected most on in her final years.
Marie is survived by her three daughters Diana Baker (James), Cheri Poage (Adam) and Kelli Sager (Steve), seven grandchildren Joshua Baker (Thom), Justin Pruitt (Lauren), Michele Lefler (Sean), Martin Saenz, Stephanie Baker, Kayla Saenz (David) and Randall Poage (Samantha) and ten great grandchildren. She is also survived by Anne Vestal (sister-in-law), special friends Jim and Sherry Sager and Bertha Baker. Marie is predeceased in death by her loving husband Morey Colehour and brother George Vestal.
