Marie Ellen Varnell McCollom, 79, of Paris, went to be with Jesus on July 22, 2025 at Paris Regional Health. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 26, 2025 in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Pastor Craig Holcomb officiating.
Marie Ellen Varnell McCollom was born on February 17, 1946 in Chattanooga, Tenn. to Russell Riley Varnell and Lois Humphries Varnell.
She had a passion for being kind to others and was always willing to jump in to help expecting nothing in return. During her 28 year career at PRMC she was known as the lady with the candy. (LOL). In 1991 she took on a different title with the birth of her 1st grandchild she became Ree-Ree. She took great pride carrying her new title. Another passion she had was serving and helping in her church. She was a board member at the Lighthouse Family Church for many years.
Ree-Ree loved going to Friday night football to see the grands perform with the band, bowling, playing card games and 42.
Marie is survived by children, Russell Herron and wife, Rennie, and Sue Ellen Parker; grandchildren, Jacob and Harley Herron, Jeffery and wife, Meredith Steffenson, Tessa Miller and husband, Robert; great-grandchildren, Everett and Walker Steffenson and great grand dogs, Otis and Bear; brothers, Ronnie Varnell and wife, Judy, and sister, Ginger Howard, nephews, Matthew Varnell and wife, Julie, Jeremy Varnell and wife, Jill, Aaron Varnell a niece, Kristen Blanton and husband, Allen and several great nephews and 1 great niece.
Today is different because she is not here with us because Jesus took her home. So for now love one another and be that smile to someone that she was to you.
"Well done, good and faithful servant you have won the race."
