Marilyn was born and raised in Brooklyn NY to Italian immigrant parents Thomas and Jennie Tortorice. She graduated from James Madison High School with honors. After High School graduation Marilyn began working as a secretary which was one of many executive secretary positions that she held throughout her career.
Marilyn was an avid world traveler who had the love of discovery. She enjoyed researching destinations and was excited by the process of planning and embarking on new adventures with the passion and strong desire to see and experience new things. In addition to travel, she loved to cook, garden, read, and be active in her community.
Marilyn was predeceased by her beloved husband Carmine J. Achille with whom she shared many cherished years of companionship.
She is survived by her devoted children: Nicholas Achille and his wife, Lorraine; and Jeanine McGillivray and her husband, Alan. She was a proud grandmother to Alexandria Spinella, Cassie Achille, and Courtney Achille, A great-grandmother
to Giovanni Carmine, Adelina Fara and Carmela Inez.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at St. Gabriel's Historic Church located at 549 Rt 520, Marlboro, NJ 07746. Family & friends to gather at the funeral home at 9:30 AM Wednesday before church.
Entombment to follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Iselin, NJ.
