Marilyn June Lewis passed away on June 27, 2025, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. She was born in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Reverend Henderson Cravatt and Ada Cravatt. Throughout her life, Marilyn lived in several states including Oklahoma, Colorado, California, and Texas, eventually settling back in Oklahoma in her later years. She attended high school in Sulphur and went on to complete trade school in Lawrence, Kansas. On July 30, 1965, Marilyn married Marvin Lewis. She worked in various roles throughout her life, including as a dental assistant, in retail, and for the Chickasaw Nation Drug Court. A proud member of the Chickasaw Nation and a woman of the Baptist faith, Marilyn had a deep love for her heritage and community. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, attending powwows and tribal events, and especially cherished time spent with her family. Marilyn loved cooking traditional meals and bringing her family together for reunions and special gatherings. She was a huge fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Oklahoma Sooners. She instilled in her loved ones the importance of enduring life with strength, being silent yet resilient, loving God, and staying connected to family.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Lewis; parents, Reverend Henderson and Ada Cravatt; brothers Albert Cravatt, Gene Cravatt, Dave Cravatt, Larry Cravatt, and Norman Cravatt; and her sister Lucille Loman.
She is survived by her children, son Myron Lewis of Ardmore, and daughters Marissa Lewis of Dallas and Mymyown Lewis of Ardmore; brothers Jerry Cravatt, Tommy Cravatt, and Timmy Cravatt; sisters Shirley Lewis, Norma Wallace, and Judy Poolaw; grandchildren Katelynn Lacy, Wesley Harjo, Joseph Harjo, Greg Chetpatananont, Danai Chetpatananont, Keaveon Loston, and Taliyah Chenault; great-granddaughter Kaprice Loston; and a host of other family and friends who will continue to cherish her memory.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Sandy Baptist Church in Sulphur, Oklahoma. Interment to follow at Sandy Baptist Church Cemetery.
