Marjorie Irene Fogler, 91, was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, June 29, 2025.
She was born as Marjorie Irene Golightly on January 16, 1934 to Lloyd and Hilda Golightly in rural Earlham, IA. She attended Van Meter High School and Northwest Missouri State College where she studied Elementary Education. After college, she met and married her late husband, Robert Fogler of Patterson, IA. They went on to make a home of their farmstead just south of Van Meter and to this union, Janet was born.
Marjorie taught elementary school for 38 years, and spent 31 years of her teaching career at Winterset Elementary School. She retired from teaching in 1994 and spent much of her retirement tending her lush flower and vegetable gardens. She also enjoyed baking, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet (Gaylon) Dayton of Clive, and her two grandsons, Matthew (Kelli) Dayton of Urbandale and William (Kate) Dayton of Clive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Fogler and parents Lloyd and Hilda Golightly.
Special thanks to Home Instead and Unity Point Hospice for caring for Marjorie in her final days.
