Martha Brewer Obituary

Memorial graveside services for Mrs. Martha C. Dyson Brewer will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 12, 2025 at the
Herringville Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Rocky Stephens officiating.
A time of remembrance and fellowship will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Cox Funeral Home in Delhi, LA.
Martha was born on July 17, 1943, the youngest of seven children born to the late William Henry Dyson and Jewel Shelton Dyson
and passed from this life a week and half short of her 82 birthday.
Also preceding her in death are her six siblings, Virgil Dyson, W H Dyson, Barbara Cooper, Marie Kiser, Sarah Williams and Leslie Dyson.
Martha is survived by her three children Bobbie Jo Johnston of Delhi, LA, William Brewer of Dothan, LA and Ernest Brewer and wife Tianna of Ingelside, TX; five grandchildren, Halie Brewer, Eva Claire Johnston, Aven Brewer, Bennett Johnston and David Michael Brewer along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Martha held a BS in Education from Louisiana College and a Master's in Education from Northeast Louisiana University. She was an educator for 36 years, 34 spent at Monticello High School as a history teacher and girls basketball and track coach, retiring only after the birth of her first grandchild in 2002. She was tough and pushed her students hard, demanding excellence, nothing short of what she demanded of herself. She taught generations to be strong, fair and kind.
Her greatest joy was being Gramme to her grandchildren, keeping them daily and never missing an event, ball game or trip to the dollar store and Sonic. We were extremely grateful for her presence in their lives.
Martha is survived by her three children Bobbie Jo Johnston of Delhi, LA, William Brewer of Dothan, LA and Ernest Brewer and wife Tianna of Ingelside, TX; five grandchildren, Halie Brewer, Eva Claire Johnston, Aven Brewer, Bennett Johnston and David Michael Brewer along with numerous nieces and nephew
Including her children and grandchildren, she leaves behind beloved brothers and sisters in-law, Sue Tolbert, Janie Thornberry, David (Angela) Brewer, Johnny (Betty Jo) Brewer and Bobby (Jackie) Brewer, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Martha was a member of Robinson Baptist Church for the last 18 years and previously a long time member of Herringville Baptist Church..
