MARTHA GONZALES LUTES

Sept. 26, 1944 – July 6, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce our beloved mother, Martha Gonzales Lutes, passed away on July 6, 2025. Martha was born on September 26, 1944, to the parents of Pedro and Frances Gonzales of Yuma, AZ, both deceased. She had three sisters, Juanita Ojeda, (deceased), Magdalena Gomez (deceased), and Juliette Aguilar.

Martha obtained her education in Yuma, Az, and later married our father, Prospero Lugo Lutes in 1960. She was a homemaker who raised their four children, Bernadette, Prospero Jr., Xavier, and Michael.

In 1973, El Centro became her permanent residence. In 1991, she was employed as a housekeeper for several families. She became a widow in 1993 and continued to work until her retirement.

She is survived by her children, Bernadette, Prosper Jr., Xavier, and Michael who recently passed on July 10, 2025. She is also survived by her sister, Juliette Aguilar, from Yuma, AZ. She has eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on July 28, 2025, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church for both Martha and Michael Lutes. Services will begin with a rosary at 9 a.m., mass at 10 a.m., and a burial immediately following at Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.
