Martha Salvesen Obituary

Martha Sada (Will) Salvesen passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on July 9th, 2025.
Born to the late Henry and Sada Will, she was the youngest of nine children to bless their household. Martha loved her Mother and Father (Sada and Henry Will), Brothers and Sisters (Tom, George, Henry, Harriet, Doris, June, and two who immediately went to heaven). She loved growing up on the farm in Lower Berkshire Valley with all her heart and soul. She always had many wonderful stories and adventures to tell. Her next adventure would change her life forever when she met the love of her life, Nels Salvesen, Jr.
Martha was a loving, strong, faithful, beautiful Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She was a loyal and dedicated worker as well as a volunteer to many organizations: Sunday School Teacher, sang in her church choir, served pizza to the children in Sacred Heart School, stuffed the bulletin at Sacred Heart Church, Girl Scout Leader, worked at McGregor's as a seamstress, cafeteria worker in Birchwood School, Police Matron for the Rockaway Township Police Department, Volunteer for Birchwood Fire House #4,, played on a softball league with her daughters and worked for the VNA in Morristown to mention a few. Martha also found great joy in organizing and running BINGO at Mill Pond Towers
Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her loved ones. She only leaves joyful memories to her loving children, Janet Maulbeck and her husband Joseph, Joyce Thompson and her husband James, Judy Koetters and her husband Eric. Her grandchildren, Joseph, Andrew and his wife Joanna, Kevin, James and his wife, Kate and Jeffrey. Her great-grandchildren, Maksymilian, Leon, James and Henry. As well as the angels who helped us, Gloria, Dave, Manny, Diana, Vivian, and Sally.
Relatives and friends are welcome to visit with the family on Friday, July 11 th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Whitham-Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Avenue, Rockaway, NJ and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 12th at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, 63 East Main Street, Rockaway, NJ. Entombment will immediately follow at Locust Hill Cemetery 168 N. Sussex Street, Dover, NJ.
