Martin Bass, a dedicated licensed insurance agent with Woodmen of the World for over 30 years, passed away on June 14, 2025, at his residence in Middleton, Tennessee. Born on October 26, 1954, in Middleton, Martin was a lifelong resident of the community he cherished. He also had a career as a loan officer with the Bank of Bolivar, demonstrating a commitment to both his profession and the people he served throughout his career.
An avid coin collector, Martin found joy in the detailed artistry of coins, a hobby that reflected his appreciation for history and craftsmanship. He also enjoyed hunting, relishing the time spent outdoors, as well as mowing the grass, a simple task that brought him peace and satisfaction. Martin was a member of Porters Creek Baptist Church and had previously been an active member of the Jaycees, contributing to community efforts and building lasting friendships.
He is survived by his daughter, Christa Tull of Middleton; his son, Eric Seaton and Stacy of Bolivar; his brother, Jerome Bass of Middleton; and his cherished grandchildren: Sawyer Tull, Riley Seaton, Katie Boothe, Jack Simpson, Emilee, and Luke Redmon.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents, James Eldon Bass and Sadie Ruth Harrison Bass; his beloved wife, Glenda Ervin Bass; and his daughter, Aimee Redmon. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, commitment, and community service that will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on June 20, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Bolivar, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Porter's Creek Cemetery in Middleton. Memorial contributions in his name may be sent to Porters Creek Baptist Church.
