Mary Sue Hester, lovingly known to many as "Aunt Sue" or "Grandma Sue," passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025, in Bakersfield, California, at the age of 79, surrounded by those who loved her.
Born on March 23, 1946, in Arkansas, Sue lived a life defined by faith, kindness, and unwavering devotion to others. She had a passion for doing hair, a craft she pursued for many years. Her salon was more than just a place of business-it was a haven filled with laughter, heartfelt conversations, and enduring friendships. Her clients weren't merely customers; they became family.
A devoted Christian, Sue found great joy in attending church and serving the Lord. Her gentle, caring spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She helped raise her nieces, nephews, and their children, treating them as her own, and opened both her heart and home to many more along the way. She was a true matriarch-steadfast, nurturing, and a source of comfort and love across generations.
Though she deeply mourned the passing of her beloved husband, Don, as well as her brothers and sisters, Sue's faith never wavered. She lived each day with grace and purpose, trusting she would one day be reunited with them in Heaven. Today, we find comfort in knowing that reunion has come-she is once again in the embrace of her husband, siblings, parents, and other cherished loved ones, welcomed into the arms of our Heavenly Father.
Sue's legacy of love, faith, and selflessness will live on in the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will remain forever in our hearts.
