Mary Lynn (Gentzkow) Korschgen, 76, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Monday, June 2, 2025 at the Linda E. White Hospice House.
Mary was born in Keokuk, Iowa on May 8, 1949 to the late John and Bernice (Mirtens) Gentzkow. She was the number one St. Louis Cardinals fan and was a gifted creative writer. Mary taught Sunday School and was a small women's group leader at Johnson County Christian Church in Kansas City. She was also a member of New Testament Christian Church and the first secretary of Keokuk Christian Academy in Keokuk, IA. After moving to Evansville, she became a member of Crossroads Christian Church for many years. Mary was the proud recipient of a medal honoring her for managing her diabetes for over fifty years from the American Diabetes Association. Mary loved spending time in the outdoors. Being in a forest, near a lake or a mountain was where she was happiest. She also enjoyed watching soap-operas, especially Days of Our Lives. Above all else, Mary loved being a wife, mom, and especially a grandma to her beloved grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Mary is survived by her husband of 51 years, John Korschgen of Evansville, IN; son, Ryan Korschgen (Kari) of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Sammi Korschgen, Bailey Elkins (Spencer), and Anna and Charlie Korschgen; and by her sisters, Katherine Gerard of Fairfield, IA and Carol Delongchamp of Placitias, NM.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and by her brothers, Doug, Ron, and John Gentzkow.
A celebration of Mary's life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.
