It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Joyce Payne, beloved daughter, aunt, and friend, who departed this world on June 6, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on June 21, 1951, in Mayo, Florida, Mary Joyce lived a life defined by love and kindness.
Mary Joyce was a devoted homemaker, whose warm presence and nurturing spirit were felt by everyone fortunate enough to know her. She cherished every moment spent with her family, especially her precious nieces and nephews, with whom she created countless joyful memories. Her love for her beloved dog, Tiny Tot, reflected her gentle nature and capacity for unconditional love.
Though she did not complete her formal education, Mary Joyce's wisdom and insights were beyond measure. She possessed a special ability to connect with others, offering comfort, laughter, and understanding. Her home in Mayo was a sanctuary for family gatherings, laughter, and storytelling.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cleo and Mary Murray; and her brother, James Edgar Murray.
Mary Joyce is survived by her siblings, Betty Ann Tucker, Deborah Lavonne Murray Alvarez, Ruphus L. Murray, Teresa D. Davis; and a host of nieces and nephews, who will carry forward the love and memories that defined their relationship.
A private celebration of Mary Joyce's life will be held at later date. Friends and family are invited to join us in honoring a woman who touched the lives of so many with her kindness and generosity. All arrangements are under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Mayo. Friends may send condolences to the family at www.joepburnsfuneralhomes.com
Mary Joyce Payne will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were privileged to have known her.
