Mary A. Prato ObituaryMary A. Prato, a longtime resident of Sayreville, peacefully passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Foothill Acres Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Hillsborough, with her loving family at her side. She was 95 years old.
Born and raised in South River to the late Antonio and Jenny Vacchio, Mary moved to Sayreville in 1956, where she has lived ever since. She proudly raised her family while being employed at Sunshine Biscuits as a packer/line worker for 26 years. After suddenly losing her dear husband in 1977, Mary's faith became very important to her. She was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Victories RC Church in Sayreville. She was also a member of the Sayreville Senior Club and enjoyed playing cards, watching movies and attending dances. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Mary is predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph C. Prato, her grandson Gregory Prato, her brothers Antonio, Michael, and Jim Vacchio, and her sister Connie Warhol.
Mary is survived by her sister Terri Rossi and her sister-in-law Barbara Vacchio.
She is also survived by her loving children and their spouses Joanne Nolan, Anthony and Lynn Prato, Gary and Vickee Prato, and Wayne Prato; her dear grandchildren and their spouses Bret Nolan, Gary II and Samantha Prato, Mark Prato, Thomas and Madi Prato, Nicole and Steven Murphy, and Sean and Ashley Prato; her great-grandchildren Dylan, Riley, Olivia, Sadie, and Jordan; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10am on Wednesday at New Calvary Cemetery in Parlin under the direction of the Maliszewski Memorial Home, 121 Main Street, Sayreville.
