Mary Ellen Rodeheaver, 92, of Oakland, MD, passed away on July 6, 2025 at Dennett Rehab Center. Born on September 28, 1932, in Swanton, she was the daughter of the late James Wilmer and Viola Gerturde (Beckman) Friend.
Mary graduated from Oakland High School, and for 27 years worked as a baker at Brownings Foodland. She was a member of the Swanton Otterbein United Methodist Church. Mary loved spending time with her family, her neighbors and her friends at "Porch View". She was an exceptional cook and baker. She enjoyed organizing photos, family genealogy, gardening, and loving on her family, neighbors and friends as often as possible. A country music enthusiast, Mary traveled to Nashville with her good friend Ethel. One of her most memorable trips was to the Holy Land in Jerusalem.
She is survived by her children, Dennis W. Rodeheaver and wife Wilma of Frostburg, Delmar L. Rodeheaver and wife Norma of Friendsville, Douglas A. Rodeheaver and wife Tina of Oakland, and Diane K. Kisner and husband William of Kitzmiller; grandchildren, Dennis W. Rodeheaver, Jr., and wife Rich Ann, Staci D. Noah and husband Darryl, Shenna M. Snead and husband Ike, Jeremy H. Kisner and wife Cassie, Shawn M. Rodeheaver, Shayla M. DeCoster and husband Dana, Justin Rodeheaver, Kayla Dodge and husband Josh, Elizabeth Legeer-Adams and husband Andy, Megan Hanks-Sison and husband Brooks, Ryan Rodeheaver and partner Destiny; 23 great grandchildren; a sister, Marlene V. Cornwell of High View, WV; and a sister-in-law, Sandra E. Friend; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by the father of her children, Lonnie Hobart Rodeheaver Jr.; daughter in law, Ginny (Fletcher) Rodeheaver; great-grandchildren, Bryson Rodeheaver and Kaison Rodeheaver; siblings, James E. Friend and wife Betty, Wilmer E. Friend and wife Ellen, and Ralph E. Friend; and a brother-in-law, Kiley "Jack" Cornwell.
Friends will be received on Thursday July 10, 2025, from 4 to 7 PM, at the Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes, P.A. - Oakland Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Friday July 11, 2025 at 11 AM, with Pastor Barbara Rexroad officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
