Mary Vacca Obituary

Mary Catherine Vacca of Harpers Ferry, WV passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025. Mary was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She had a large circle of friends and was always easily recognizable with her Boston accent and beautiful smile.
Originally from Somerville Massachusetts, she and her husband Bill left Boston when he became an officer in the Navy in the late 1960's. Despite having rarely left the Boston area she embarked on an adventure that led her to Hawaii, Nantucket and eventually brought her to the DC area where she made a home for her family. Mary was always willing to host friends and neighbors for gatherings at their house and was known as someone you could always count on in need. She had a career as a service representative for a number of consumer goods companies including Rivera Sunglasses and Gold Toe Socks. She eventually retired to Harper's Ferry and poured her energy into her grandchildren, who were the center of her universe. Her love for them will live on now that she has passed.
Mary is survived by her husband of 59 years Bill, her eldest son Robert and his wife April of Bluffton, SC, her youngest son Joseph and his wife Stacey of Lovettsville VA. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren Meaghan Hoffman, Thomas Vacca, Mikaela Vacca, Tim Vacca, Brady Vacca, Kennedy Vacca and Mason Vacca.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation kidney.org
The family will host a celebration of life on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425
