DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory - EspanolaMarylou Karcher (Martinez), age 76, a beloved resident of Espanola, NM, went home to her final resting place on October 11, 2025.
Born on October 27, 1948, Marylou was the daughter to Juan Andres and Eleiza Martinez. She was born and raised in the beautiful place of Canoncito in Dixon, New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan Andres and Elieza Martinez and her brother Joseph Martinez.
Marylou is survived by her husband, Ronald Karcher, her children Lee Wayne Gonzales, Tammy Niedermeier (John), and Nicole Villalobos(Raymundo), Stepson Gerry Karcher (Julie), Grandkids Steven Niedermeier, Ezrie Villalobos (Arturo), Aliah Villalobos (Josh), Chad Villalobos, Nancy Villalobos(Juan), Ruby Avitia (Ozzy), Taylor Ossentjuk (Bobby), and Hayden Karcher. Brothers Elmer Martinez(Jessie), Oliver Martinez(Soraida),her Sister Linda Labreck (Ernie) and several nieces.
Marylou was known for her love of all of her Grandkids, gardening, cooking and her dogs.
She took joy in making people her delicious tamales, biscochitos and tortillas. She loved to take people flowers from her garden. She loved to dance when she was younger and loved to dance to the “Twist”. Marylou enjoyed the many jobs she had throughout her life and met her husband Ronald Karcher at her last job with the casino.
Marylou will be missed by those who loved her and had the privilege of knowing her. Her jokes, smile and infectious personality brought joy to our lives.
A funeral service will take place on November 4, 2025 at 10:30 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz with burial to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
