Matthew L. “Matt” Heidorf passed away in Akron, Ohio on April 2, 2025. He was born in Lakewood, Ohio on December 13, 1937 to Hudson J. and Margaret E. Heidorf. Matt was raised in Brooklyn, Ohio and graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1955. Matt attended Kent State University and served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps (1957 - 1959).
His professional career spanned more than 40 years in advertising and marketing communications in the Los Angeles, New York, Cleveland and Akron markets; including affiliations with Metromedia, Inc. and several leading ad agencies in both Cleveland and Akron.
Matt served on the Boards of Trustees of the Kidney Foundation of Summit County, the Greenleaf Family Center, and was past President of the Sales & Marketing Executives of Akron.
After retirement Matt was able to pursue his love of art and painting. He was an accomplished artist and enjoyed watercolor classes and creating beautiful paintings for his family and friends.
Matt was the perfect example of a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. To know him was to love him. He was always smiling, laughing and filling the lives of those around him with joy and love. Above all, he deeply loved his family and friends. He blessed us with his love and laughter and left us with wonderful memories and full hearts. He will be deeply missed and held in our hearts forever.
Matt was preceded in death by his parents; older brother, Hudson D. Heidorf, D.D.S.; and younger sister, Marilyn Heidorf McKinley. He is survived by his loving wife, Lee; sons, Kent, Jeff (Lana), and Ned; daughter, Heidi (Derek) Lester; grandchildren, Tyler Heidorf, Brittney Lester (Rico) Natareno, Jake (Makayla) Lester, Kyle Lester, Katrina Heidorf, and Jessica (Heidorf) Dotson. In addition, beloved great grandchildren, Addison and Archer Lester, and Lorena Natareno. Also, beloved step-daughters, Kathy (Bill) Kirk of Akron and Pam (John) Gibson of Cincinnati; and grandchildren, Lyndsey Kirk (Tom) Heffern, Miles Kirk, Nicole Gibson and Gabi Gibson, and great-grandson, Graham Heffern. Also, nieces, Pam Heidorf and Megan (Ted) Nagel, Kristy White, and Laurie Baker; nephews, Brad (Stephanie) Heidorf and Chris (Jill) Heidorf; as well as dear sisters-in-law, Lois Heidorf of Avon Lake, and Marylynn Baker of Akron; as well as many other family members and friends.
In accordance with his wishes, Matt has been cremated. Memorial Service 12 P.M. TUESDAY April 15th, 2025 at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Road. The family will receive friends during calling hours from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. at Billow’s. Interment to follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
