Maureen G. Madden (O'Malley), 85, of Warwick died Monday July 14th at the Brentwood Nursing Home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of John T. Madden, Esq.
Born and raised in Providence, she was one of eight children of the late George and Helen (Baker) O'Malley. A graduate of St. Xavier's Academy and Whidden Hospital School of Nursing, she worked for many years as a nurse at the Genesis School in Providence. She had been a Warwick resident for the past fifty-seven years.
"Mo" was beautiful, kind, stylish, and quick to laugh. She loved the beach and shopping and all kinds of music. Curious and approachable, she lifted the spirits of those she'd encounter during her day. All the wonderful people in her life were constantly reminded of her love and affection by a gift bag or thoughtful note, or a check-in on the phone. She had beautiful friendships. What brought her most joy was her family- her husband Jack, her children and beloved grandchildren, as well as her sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews. She was most content when her big family was together.
Maureen brought warmth and kindness to so many people.
Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, Christopher P. (Lisa) Madden of Charlotte, N.C., Thomas A. (Kim) Madden, Esq. of Cranston and John D. (Christine) Madden of Warwick; her daughter, Nancy M. (John, Esq.) Moreira of Warwick, and ten grandchildren: Kathryn Madden; Samantha and Ethan Madden; Jack, James and Jenna Madden; and Aidan, Finn, Georgia and Michael Moreira. She was the sister of Paul O'Malley, Anne Daley, Helen Ferrucci, John O'Malley, Robert O'Malley, the late George O'Malley and Michael O'Malley.
Her funeral will be Saturday July 19th at 9 AM from the Frank P. Trainor & Sons Funeral Home, 982 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Peter's Church, 350 Fair Street Warwick at 10 AM. Calling Hours Friday 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to Saint Peter School will be appreciated. Donations can be mailed to 120 Mayfair Rd, Warwick, RI 02888. Burial will be Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. For Online condolences, please visit www.trainorfh.com
