It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt remembrance that we announce the passing of Maurice Antwon McGowan Jr., who left us unexpectedly on October 6, 2025. Born on October 4, 1997, in Pontiac, Michigan, Maurice was a radiant spirit whose laughter could light up any room and whose kindness knew no bounds.
Maurice lived life with an unyielding passion, his days filled with music that spoke to the soul and a heart that beat in rhythm with the joy of friendship. He cherished the moments spent with friends, always quick to lift others with his encouraging words and genuine support. His generous nature and loving spirit were a testament to the values he held dear, values nurtured by his faith and the loving guidance of his parents, Maiesha Porter and Maurice McGowan.A devoted son, brother, and grandson, Maurice embraced life with an energy that was infectious. He was not just a skilled worker in the construction field, but also a craftsman of joy; through his love for music and profound faith in the Lord, he left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know him. He believed in the power of love and resilience, reminding us all to appreciate the beauty in the world around us.
He is survived by his parents Maiesha Porter and Maurice McGowan, Sr.; brother James Gipson, sister Amari McGowan; and lots of loving extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his Maternal grandmother, Rochelle Porter.
In celebration of Maurice's life, we invite all those whose lives he touched to join us for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 18, 2025, visitation starting at 2:00 P.M. and opening the floor for loved ones and friends to speak beginning at 3:00 P.M. at Primrose Funeral Services of Lytle, Texas.
We encourage those who loved him to gather in remembrance, to share stories, to sing his favorite songs, and to find strength for those who Maurice so dearly cherished. As we reflect on Maurice's life, let us remember him not only for his untimely departure but for the gifts he shared-his laughter, his music, and the boundless love he extended to all. Maurice Antwon McGowan Jr. will forever remain in our hearts, a shining star in our memories, guiding us with the love he so generously gave. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the melodies of the joy he brought into this world.
